February home sales remain steady, as inventory continues to fall.

The London and St Thomas Association of REALTORS® (LSTAR) announced 536 homes* were sold in February, down 32.8% over the same period last year, which holds the record for best February results since LSTAR began tracking sales data in 1978.

"Inventory, or Active Listings, continues to experience a dramatic decrease compared to 2017, which is having a huge impact on sales," said Jeff Nethercott, 2018 LSTAR President. "There were 1,103 active listings, down 26.4% from this time last year. This is the lowest level of inventory we’ve had in the region over the last 10 years."

Home sales steady in January, despite low inventory.

The London and St Thomas Association of REALTORS® (LSTAR) announced 400 homes* were sold in January, down 28.8% over the same period last year, which holds the record for best January results since LSTAR began tracking sales data in 1978.

"When you take a look at the last 10 years, these results are right in line with the activity we expect in January," said Jeff Nethercott, 2018 LSTAR President. "One of the areas affecting home sales is low inventory. There were 623 new home listings, down 31.8% from last January, and there were 1,020 active listings, down 27.7% from this time last year.”

A historic year for real estate in 2017

Home sales exceed 11,000 for the first time  

London, ON – The London and St. Thomas Association of REALTORS® (LSTAR) announced 2017 marked a historic year for residential real estate, with home sales surpassing 11,000 for the first time since LSTAR began tracking data in 1978. In 2017, a total of 11,203 homes were sold, up 8.0% from 2016.

Home Sales Achieve Record!

The London and St. Thomas Association of REALTORS® (LSTAR) announced 637 homes exchanged hands last month, down 13.6% from the same time a year ago. Meanwhile, year-to-date sales are up 9.1%, with a total of 10,790 homes sold, marking 2017 as the year with the highest number of residential sales since LSTAR began tracking data in 1978, with one more month to go.

Home Sales Remain Strong!

The London and St. Thomas Association of REALTORS® (LSTAR) announced 757 homes exchanged hands last month, slightly down 10.2% from the same time a year ago. Year-to-date sales are up 10.6%, with a total of 10,111 homes sold, marking the second consecutive year residential sales have surpassed 10,000 across the region.

Home Sales Remain Steady!

The London and St Thomas Association of REALTORS® (LSTAR) announced 802 homes exchanged hands last month, marking the third consecutive year that more than 800 homes were sold in the month of September*.

"Home sales are slightly down compared to last September, but we are still on track to achieve a record sales year for 2017," said Jim Smith, 2017 LSTAR President. "We're experiencing activity that signifies a more balanced marketplace, and expect a strong finish to the year."

In September, a total of 646 detached homes were sold, a decrease of 9.8% from the previous year, while condominium sales were up 4.0% from 2016, with 156 units sold. The average sales price across London and St. Thomas was $318,347 slightly down

London Market Continues at a Healthy Pace!

The London and St Thomas Association of REALTORS® (LSTAR) announced that home sales in the London-St. Thomas area continued at a healthy pace in August, with 892 homes exchanging hands.

"Compared to August 2016, which holds an unprecedented record, the August 2017 numbers represent a slight decrease in homes sales activity. However, if you look at the historical data, last month turns out to be the best August for our REALTOR® Members since 2005," said Jim Smith, 2017 LSTAR President. "Overall, 2017 remains an incredible year for real estate across London and St. Thomas and we expect sales activity to stay fairly strong for the remainder of 2017."

A Strong Finish for July Home Sales!

The London and St. Thomas Association of REALTORS® (LSTAR) announced 1,002 homes were sold in July, the best July monthly total in 10 years and an increase of 1.2% over the same period last year. July 2007 holds the all-time July monthly record with 1,009 sales, since LSTAR began tracking sales data in 1978*.

Home Sales Hit Another Record in June!

The London and St Thomas Association of REALTORS® (LSTAR) announced home sales achieved the best results ever for the month of June, since LSTAR began tracking sales data in 1978*. A total of 1,245 homes were sold in June, an increase of 9.9% over the same period last year.

Home Sales Soar to a New Record in May!

The London and St Thomas Association of REALTORS® (LSTAR) announced a total of 1,539 homes were sold in May, an increase of 33.4% over the same period last year. This represents the best results ever for May, and the highest monthly home sales total ever recorded, since LSTAR began tracking data in 1978*.

"We're experiencing a very strong marketplace, with the fifth consecutive month of record sales," said Jim Smith, LSTAR President. "REALTORS® are still seeing multiple offer scenarios and interest from outside the region. When you factor in the region's low unemployment rate and continued job growth, the economy is firing on all cylinders. This year, year-to-date home sales are already 27% ahead of 2016."
